Liquidus temperatures range from 1450-1460oC for low carbon alloys to 1250 - 1350oC for high carbon alloys. However, the minimum furnace temperature is set by the slag because it typically has a liquidus temperature above 1550oC. In fact a ferronickel furnace is mainly a producer of slag, which comprises over 90% of the furnace output.
